The National Research & Studies Foundation "Eleftherios Venizelos" is a dynamic organization, a reference point for culture, research, and education focused on Eleftherios Venizelos and his time. One of its key purposes is the creation and organization of museums, research centers, and events aimed at promoting and disseminating the historical work of Eleftherios Venizelos, as well as preserving his historical memory.
Visitors are given the opportunity to connect deeply with the past, bridging collective and personal memory, through visits to the Residence Museum in Halepa, the Museum-Headquarters in Therisso, and the Birdhouse in Mournies.
The Residence – Museum “Eleftherios K. Venizelos” is classified as an authentic (documentary) home, since it is recounting the life of a personage and it is preserving authentic items, most of them in their original position.
Therisos has historical ties to a critical turning point for the island: the Revolution of 1905. The exhibition extends across two floors and includes authentic artifacts and archival documents.
The Birthplace of Eleftherios Venizelos in Mournies was the family home of Kyriakos and Styliani Venizelos, where Eleftherios was born. The exhibition extends across two floors and includes mainly supervisory material. With a modern and particularly attended graphic design, Venizelos’ childhood, and youth until 1910, is presented on the ground floor. Additional supervisory material presents the history of the village of Mournies, and of the house.
